PATIENT CENTRED BREAST CANCER EDUCATION FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS

Programme overview
Breast cancer awareness and educational programmes could be actively integrated into the management and treatment of cancer patients after diagnosis.  These educational programmes should be tailored to the needs of patients diagnosed with the disease and address the factors that contribute to the default in treatment and the absconding of patients. Care for Breast cancer patients must be tailored to each patient’s unique needs and responsive to their health problems, beliefs, and environmental factors.  Patients’ needs and preferences for care can be identified, as well as their anxieties and frustrations addressed, by listening to their worries and providing patient centred education on breast cancer treatment.
This CPD programme therefore sets out to equip healthcare professionals with skills and knowledge on how to integrate patient centred education into the management of patients newly diagnosed with breast cancer or patients who defaulted cancer treatment  and have returned for care.  The CPD programme will be taught by practitioners with expertise in Breast cancer care and Family Physicians vexed in Patient centered principles.
